Rafael Macedo

Vocals · Guitar · Composer · Producer

Rafael Macedo began his musical journey at age 12 with the acoustic guitar, and by 14 had already transitioned to electric. Entirely self-taught until age 17, he then studied guitar and music theory with Alexandre Lima at the renowned Prediger Music School in Porto Alegre, Brazil. After two years of intense study, Rafael was invited to join the Prediger faculty as a guitar instructor in 1998. That same year he formed the earliest version of what would become Wreck of Time.

Outside the band, Rafael joined the Orchestral Choir of OSPA (Porto Alegre Symphonic Orchestra), studying vocal technique with Decápolis de Andrade and Maestro Manfredo Schmiedt. He participated in major works including Mahler's Symphony No. 2, Verdi's Quattro Pezzi Sacri, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. Rafael later moved to California, completing Music Business and Composition programs at Diablo Valley College.

His most ambitious achievement is the full composition of the concept albums From Sand – Part I and Part II. In 2024, he took full charge of mixing and production of Wreck of Time's music.
